Dandy Corn Dogs #572 5/01

1/2 cup flour
1 tablespoon cornmeal
2 teaspoon ground mustard
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 egg; beaten
3/8 cup milk
5 wooden skewers
5 hot dogs
oil for deep fat frying
corn starch
In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients. Stir in the egg and milk just until moistened.Give dogs a light coating of corn starch; this helps the batter to stick. Insert skewers into hot dogs: dip into batter. In a skillet, heat 1" of oil to 375. Fry corn dogs for 5 to 8 minutes or until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. There is not all that much batter, so we poured the batter into a pilsener glass and dipped from there. Worked just fine.
