Fig Newtons #534 9/8/00

3 cups fig preserves; chopped fine
3/4 cup crisco
2 eggs
1 cup sugar
2 cup flour
2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoon baking powder

Cream together Crisco, eggs and sugar. Sift flour, cinnamon, soda and baking powder into the sugar mixture. Mix. Take half of the mixture and place between 2 pieces of waxed paper that have been sprayed with Pam. Roll out to a 9 X 13" size. Place into a pan of the same size that has also been sprayed with Pam. Pour figs over. Repeat the procedure with the rest of the dough and place on top of the figs. Bake at 365 for about 40 minutes. Let cool before slicing.
