Broccoli Cheese Soup **** 9/96

1/2 cup onion; chopped
2 tablespoon butter
2 tablespoon flour
1 1/2 cup chicken stock
10 oz frozen broccoli; thawed
1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 cup shredded cheddar
1 cup half & half
1/2 teaspoon Salt
In a medium saucepan, cook onion in butter until tender; stir in flour. Gradually stir in stock, then broccoli, salt and Worcestershire. Over medium heat, cook and stir until thickened and broccoli is tender, about 10 minutes. Add cheese and cream. Cook and stir until cheese melts and soup is hot (do not boil).
Yield: 4 servings
