Milan Chickpea Soup #830 5/07

1 lb Italian Sausage
1 large bell pepper; chopped
1 cup onion; chopped
1 6 oz can Tomato paste
2 15 oz can garbanzo beans; undrained
2 cups chicken broth
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
parmesan cheese; grated
In a dutch oven, brown the sausage, then add pepper and onions and saute until onions are tender. Add remaining ingredients except the parmesan and stir. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer for 30 minutes, covered. Sprinkle with parmesan when serving. The original recipe had mushrooms in it. We didn't like them and want to substitute the bell pepper.
