Spaghetti Pie **** 4/98

3 oz spaghetti
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup parmesan cheese
1 egg; well beaten
6 oz cottage cheese
1/2 lb bulk sausage
1/4 cup onion; chopped
4 oz can tomatoes; cut up
3 oz can tomato paste
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic salt
1/2 cup mozzarella cheese; shredded
1/2 parmesan cheese; topping

Cook spaghetti and drain. Stir in butter; add Parmesan cheese and beaten eggs, stir. Pile into a 7" square caserole . Spread cottage cheese over spaghetti mixture. Brown sausage and chopped onion in a large saucepan. Add tomato paste, tomatoes, and seasonings to meat mixture and cook for 20 minutes. Pour over cottage cheese. Bake uncovered for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Sprinkle with the mozzarella and some more Parmesan. Bake 5 minutes longer. Let cool for 5 minutes. If you double the recipe, use a 10" quiche dish. Revised from 6 servings to 3 on 2/25/00
