Onion Cheese Custard Bread **** 4/98

3/4 cup onion; chopped
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 cup buttermilk
1 egg; slightly beaten
1 1/2 cup bisquick
4 oz shredded cheddar; divided
2 teaspoon poppy seeds
2 tablespoon butter; melted
In a skillet, saute onion in oil until golden brown. Set aside to cool. In a bowl, combine buttermilk and egg. Stir in Bisquick, onion, and 1/2 of the cheese. Pour into a greased 9" baking pan. Sprinkle with poppy seeds and remaining cheese. Drizzle with the butter. Bake at 400 for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool slightly.
Yield: 1 loaf
