Marinara Sauce #853 9/07

2 tablespoon olive oil
1 medium oninon; chopped
3 large garlic cloves; minced
1 28 oz can crushed tomatoes
1 cup Water
1 teaspoon oregano
1 teaspoon basil
1 teaspoon bay leaf
1 teaspoon Salt
pepper to taste
parmesan cheese; optional
1 rep pepper flakes; optional
Over medium heat, heat oil in a large saucepan until hot. Add onion and garlic and saute for 3 to 5 minutes until the onions apear translucent. Add the tomatoes and water and stir. Add the spices, salt, pepper, sugar, and red pepper flakes if using. Simmer for about thirty minutes. Stir occasionally. Stir in the parmesan before serving.
