Bread & Butter Pickles #761 7/05

4 qts cucumbers; thinly sliced
1/2 cup kosher salt
2 qts sliced onions
4 cups Sugar
2 tablespoon mustard seed
1 tablespoon ginger
1 teaspoon turmeric
1 tablespoon celery seed
Put the cukes, salt and onions in a large container for 2 hours. In a large dutch oven, put remaining ingredients and bring to a boil. Boil for ten minutes. Add cukes and onions. Bring to a boil again. Pack immediately in sterilized 12 oz jars.
