1 package dry yeast
1/4 cup warm water; 105-115 degrees
1 tablespoon salad oil
1 teaspoon Sugar
1 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup warm milk
2 1/2 cups flour; divided
fresh garlic butter
In a large mixing bowl, sprinkle yeast over 1/4 cup warm water, let stand for 5 minutes. Stir in salad oil, sugar, salt, milk, and 2 cups of the flour. Beat on medium speed for 5 minutes or until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl in stretchy strands. Stir in flour to form stiff dough (1/2 cup). Turn onto lightly floured board. Knead for 10 minutes or until smooth. Turn dough over in lightly greased bowl. Cover and let rise in a warm place or until doubled in size. Knead to expel air. Separate into 12 equal pieces. Cover and let rest for 5 minutes. Shape into breadsticks, and let rise in a warm place until puffy. Brush with garlic butter and bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350°F .
