Sausage and Black Bean Soup #694 8/04

1 lb bulk sausage
2 14 oz, can chicken broth
1 15oz can black beans
1 14 oz, can golden hominy; drained
1 14 oz, can mexican style tomatoes
1 cup loose pack hash brown potatoes
1 small green bell pepper; chopped
1 small onion; chopped
1 clove garlic; minced
1 teaspoon oregano
1/2 teaspoon chili powder

Brown the sausage, drain, and put into a crock pot. Stir in remaining ingrredients. Cover; cook on high heat for 2 or 3 hours. Put dumplings on top during last half hour. For dumplings, see recipe 693.

Yield: 6 servings
