Iced Orange Cookies #679 2/04

1/2 cup Shortening
1 cup Sugar
2 large eggs
1/2 cup orange juice
1 tablespoon grated orange peel
2 1/2 cups flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt ------ICING-------
2 cups confectioners sugar
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tablespoon Butter; melted

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in orange juice and peel. Combine flour, baking powder, and salt; gradually mix into the creamed mixture. Drop by heaping teaspoonsful 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets. Bake at 350°F for 10 minutes or until edges begin to brown. Remove to wire racks to cool. In a small bowl, combine icing ingredients until smooth. Spoon over cooled cookies. If you bake these on something other than cookie sheets, you may have to add 2 or 3 minutes baking time.
