Rolled Butter Cookies #601 12/01

1 cup sugar
1 cup butter; softened
1 large egg; slightly beaten
3 tablespoon cream
1 teaspoon vanilla
3 cup flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
----ICING----
4 teaspoon dried egg whites
1/4 cup water
3 cup confectioners sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Cream butter and sugar in a mixer. Add egg and cream and vanilla. Mix. Add dry ingregients: mix again. On a floured surface, roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut out desired shapes. Bake at 400°F for about 7 minutes. Frost and decorate. Royal Icing: Beat dry egg whites and water until frothy; add vanilla. Add sugar gradually. Beat on medium speed for 4 to 7 minutes or until icing forms peaks. Cover icing between uses. Take 2 TB. sugar and add some red or green food coloring. Mix well; let dry and sift through a small strainer onto the cookies. 120 calories per cookie
